Gender based violence does not begin or end with a single act between two people. It is sustained by patriarchal laws, by economic systems that keep people dependent, by war and displacement, and by institutions that fail to protect.
For the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, FES PolFem is inviting writers, researchers, journalists, artists and activists from the SWANA region and its diaspora to submit original work that treats gender-based violence as the political question it is.
