Open Call for Long-term ESC “Promoting European Values” in Alcala la Real, Spain

ABOUT THE HOST ORGANIZATION

Asociación Socio-Cultural VerdeSur Alcalá is by group of professionals working in the field of youth who would like to create a social change in town of Alcala while focusing on the young people and involving the young people, teachers and educator to the mobility activities as well as the local socio- cultural activities through its partnerships and its offers.

The association is supported by the local municipality and it is based on the youth building of Alcala la Real where has a very diverse environment with a great historical trajectory where it can bring too many opportunities for events and social activities for young people and local population.

The volunteers will involve in the activities of our organization mainly based on Art and languages, although, they will have a place to practice their own skills concerning to the program that we will develop jointly with the volunteer and Edificio Joven ( Youth Branch ) of Alcala Municipality. 

Our main target group are the young people living in Alcala la Real aged between 13-30. They involve the activities of our association throughout the opportunities that we provide. As Alcala la Real is a rural town comparing the many towns in Spain, we are focusing on increasing the employability and involvement of young people and internationalization of the schools.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

– Conversation assistant at the local institute (Alfonso XI) for the subjects of Physical Education, IT and English. Collaborate in the development of the class in English, teaching vocabulary and speaking skills.
– School support for children, help with their homework and games to develop other skills with the Red Cross
– Cooperation and preparation in activities for retirees with the Red Cross
– Support in the dining room of the retirement center from Monday to Friday.
– Support in the local primary dining room (SAFA) from Monday to Friday.
– Helping out the activities of the association when it is needed ( youth exchanges, training courses or local projects )
– Involving in Spanish classes provided in the local area
– Involving in English speaking clubs and engaging in the activities of Edificio Joven

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

• Age: 18–30 years old
• Eligibility: Must not have completed a long-term EVS or ESC before
• Language Skills: Medium-level English (speaking and writing) required
• Willing to take on project tasks and responsibilities

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD & TRAVEL

• The volunteers will stay in triple/double rooms and will live with 15-20 different volunteers from different countries.
• You will have the pillows, blankets, sheets but each volunteer should bring or buy their own towel, personal hygiene products.
• You will work in Edificio Joven (https://www.facebook.com/edificiojoven/)
• You will have unlimited internet connection with Wi-Fi in the house.
