The Swiss Embassy Promoting Peace: Stories of Hope and Resilience
The Swiss Embassy was part of a special event – the opening of the International Days of Peace in Mostar (18–20 September) and had the honor of participating in the panel “Stories of the Past, Visions of the Future.” During the conference, we heard inspiring and deeply moving stories from young people from war-affected countries – Sudan, Palestine, and Ukraine. Their stories are different, yet so similar – all speaking of loss, pain, and suffering caused by war.
Events like the International Days of Peace are extremely important – as they encourage us to reflect on how vital it is to speak about peace and work for peace around the world.
A heartfelt thank you to the organizers – Network for Peace, UWC Mostar, and the Igman Initiative – for the excellent organization, and to all the young people who shared their very personal stories with us, inspired us to reflect, and, despite everything, gave us hope that the they will protect the world better than we did. We sincerely hope that peace will come to their homelands soon, and wish them all success and happiness in life.
